Dairy Queen

THEMES IF YOU SPEAK COW THEN MOOEMES

On this page you will find the four main themes of this novel that will hopefully teach you a life lesson and why you should never judge a book by it's cover. For example, when I first picked up this book, I was thinking to myself boy, does this book look silly.(the front cover does have a silly cow will a crown on her head and it's called Dairy Queen, pretty silly) As I read the back cover, this book no longer looked silly. It was a mature book waiting to be read and teach someone a life lesson. Just as it tought me.

Sexisim
D.J. was judged when she wasn't even on the football field yet. She was judged for being a woman. As I stated before, don't judge a book by it's cover applies to this book very well. D.J. was judged and  she ended up being an amazing football player. This story may not be real, but horrible events such as these still happen today. In fact, women in some countries are still just "property" of their husbands. They can't even apply for jobs. Lucky for D.J. she was abble to show her true potential. Saddly, for some women, they will never be able to show theirs.

Bragging
First of all, I would like to say that bragging gets you nowhere in life. This is what bragging has done to Brian. He could go on and on saying how smart he is and how ge is such a great quarter back. Here's a tip for you Brian, actions are better than words. You could say whatever you want. but you can't do whatever you want. Brian is acually the back-up quarter back for his team and he hardly plays.

Taking Something for Granite
Brian is always complaining when he has to work at the frarm fo one little summer. He doesn't relize that all D.J. does is work on the farm even during the school year. So the person that should really be complaining is poor D.J. not prissy Brian. Always appericate what you have and not what you don't.

Being a Coward
Brian never taunts D.J. when her parents are in sight but when they are gone, that is when he starts taunting her. When he is with his "jockey" friends and his girlfriends who are about as skinny as twigs. He doesn't even say it to her stright forward he says it to his friends. In conclusion, the lesson learned is that if you have something to say, say it stright forward not behind someone's back you will at least seem a little more brave.
